She covers her fears with dreams of tomorrow.
Because tomorrow,
Tomorrow the sun will saturate the shades of doubt.
The hue of helplessness that dilates her pupils,
So she cannot feel the light.
Because tomorrow,
Tomorrow she will scale the source of shadow,
And look down upon the rhyolite where she endured the falling ashes of battles once fought,
And the silhouetted smoke of battles to come,
Because tomorrow,
Tomorrow she will find the strength to lift the weight.
The weight of 1000 daydreams of a lost child,
And delusions of a starving soul
Tomorrow is hope.
Tomorrow is promise
Tomorrow is all there is left to embrace.
But tomorrow,
Tomorrow is nothing more than a fools pursuit.
Because today,
Today bears the hope of yesterdays dreams
And today,
Is nothing more than a skeleton of the dreams she still grips with tired hands.
YES! This is brilliant ‘The weight of 1000 daydreams of a lost child, and delusion of a starving soul’ -love this line. I don’t follow too many poetry posts but I loved this
